Shakin’ the Winter Blues Away, Home Improvement Style

With the New Year comes the end of the excitement or the bother of the holidays, depending on whether you are Buddy the Elf or a grouchy Scrooge. With normalcy returning, now is a great time to consider some home interior projects you’ve been pondering for a while.. If you like to entertain a lot, or just like to live in a beautiful house, the cold will keep you and your guests inside. Notice anything aesthetically missing in your home this holiday? The holidays are an excellent time to take note of the overall look and functionality of our homes. We all want our houses to look beautiful with the decorations, but are there some dated elements to your home? At Ed Metzger, LLC, we’d like to help you with some of these pesky problems and make your life just a little bit easier and more beautiful. Here are our top two suggestions.

Interior Doors

One easy way to give your home a facelift is to replace the interior doors. Are your current doors showing their age, and I don’t mean in an antique, collectible sort of way? They are something we don’t really think about, but their quiet presence can completely change the look of a room. Modernizing your doors can bring your home into the current century as soon as completed. The color and selecting a solid wood door over a hallow door can make the room feel more established. As doors and baseboards look best when they match, will the latter need to be replaced too? A simple problem we can help you with, and one that will make a world of difference in your home.

Storage Room

Let’s look at your storage room or rooms. Is the storage space and layout of your home being used most effectively?  With pulling the holiday decorations out and a month later putting them away, is your home designed for the storage capabilities you need?  We all have rooms that we wish would be more storage-like and not simply a dumping ground. Shelves and/or cabinets could be a great addition to providing an organized space.  We can do our part to install shelves and cabinets, but putting your items in organized storage bins will be left up to you!

The holidays are a busy and expensive time of the year, but when the weather keeps you indoors, there is plenty of work that can be done that will not be too much of a burden on you, financially or with overall planning.
