Fall is a favored season everywhere, but especially in our locale. The changing leaves, the crisp air, and the chilly evenings all create a perfect fall atmosphere. Being in our line of business, we like to extend this feeling into homes. Fall is also the perfect time for home improvements, winter prepping, and fall DIY. These are some of our favorite DIYS to bring a little bit of the season home:
Print out large letters in a word document, cutout the letters, and traced them on a long board of wood. Then use craft paint to fill in the letters. A little bit of sandpaper will give it a distressed, aged look.
What’s that smell? Fall. This potpourri has zero rules: use whatever you’d like (orange peels, dried orange peel, an apple, cloves, cinnamon sticks, cardamom pods, fresh ginger, star anise….) Just add it all to big pot of water (or a slow cooker) and simmer it on low heat.
This faux log stack facade can be removed when you are ready to use the actual fireplace, and replace the next day once the fireplace is cool again. It gives the depth and perception of a bunch of stacked wood, but is only a few inches thick.
What is fall without a wreath? This wreath mimics designs from expensive home design stores, but cost less than $20 to make. Assembly is easy too. The only tool required is a glue gun. Tie a beautiful ribbon at the top and you have yourself a thrifty and beautiful wreath.
This one would probably be most fun for the kids. Give new life to all those acorns spread across the yard with a little acrylic craft paint. Brush strokes will make a difference in the acorns’ appearance so brush with the grain of the nut. Use fall shades of green, orange, and gold.
Autumn is here for only a few months so make the most of it! If you need any help with your fall home maintenance before the season ends, please give us a call at 717-791-9495.
